Welcome to Voluntary Action Epping Forest

VAEF - on the edge of the forest, at the heart of the community.
Promoting, developing and supporting the voluntary sector

Voluntary Action Epping Forest (VAEF) is an umbrella organisation that provides advice, information and development support services to voluntary and community organisations and volunteers in the Epping Forest District. We are based in Epping and have been operational since 1993, during which time we have grown from a minimal staff team to 20 employees - 5 core staff and 15 project staff. We are governed by our members (around 200 local voluntary and community groups) through an elected Board of Trustees.

VAEF has achieved both the Investors in People award and the Volunteer Centre Quality Accreditation awarded by Volunteering England. We are working to PQASSO Level 1 Standards.

Voluntary Action Epping Forest, the umbrella organisation promoting, supporting and advising volunteers and voluntary groups in Epping Forest District was recently awarded an Investors in People Bronze Award.

The Bronze Award sets high standards in the workplace. To be awarded it means that VAEF has successfully measured up to 65 stipulated requirements and activity measurements. The examination process is detailed and rigorous and holders of the award are considered quality employers.

Originally VAEF applied for the standard Investors in People accreditation in September 2010 and their application was so successful that the assessor recommended that the organisation tried for Bronze.

Chief Officer, Jacqui Foile, said “The award of the Bronze standard is wonderful news for VAEF and recognises the way in which VAEF values and treats its staff.  The fact that this was achieved at a time when there are concerns over funding and job security makes the award even more special”
