VAEF Projects: Caring for Carers

What do we do?

The Epping Forest Carers project helps unpaid and informal carers by giving advice, information and support in their caring role. There are an estimated 6 million carers in the UK, who care part-time or full-time. People from all walks of life and backgrounds are

carers; over 3 in 5 people will at some time in their lives become a carer.

Every day another 6,000 people take on a caring responsibility, it is anticipated that the numbers will increase to 9 million by 2037.

If you are an unpaid carer we can assist you with:

  • carers benefits
  • Accessing carers assessments
  • Organising short breaks
  • Planning activities, lunches and support meetings
  • Helping to access other services specific to your needs

Who can use our service?

This service is free to unpaid carers in Epping Forest District. A carer is someone who looks after family, partners or friends in need because they are ill, disabled or have mental health problems. A carer is someone who provides unpaid care by looking after an ill, frail or disabled family member, friend or partner.
