Chat-Tea, Befriending Service

What do we do?

Chat-Tea Befriending Service aims to provide support, friendship and short respite for informal carers and those living on their own in isolation both in the client's home and on occasional trips out.

This service will provide a 'friend' who will be able to offer companionship by forming a trusting and supportive relationship offering a smile, a listening ear, links to other services and regular visits.

A Chat-Tea Befriender can offer:

  • volunteer, who will be carefully screened, trained and matched with the befriendee
  • A regular visit to your home for a friendly chat (this can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly to suit individuals)
  • A listening ear
  • Links to other services
  • To be respected and valued as an individual
  • All personal information to be kept strictly confidential at all times
  • Contact with the co-ordinator who will deal with any concerns you may possibly have with the befriending service
